THE MYSTERY OF MERCY OF GOD
Scripture: Romans 9: 15. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
Beloved, I welcome you to another Moment of Daily Encounter! Yesterday, we started exploring the mystery of mercy of God and we discover mercy is withholding of punishment deserves. And we concluded on why we needed to pray for the mercy of God. Today we shall continue on why we need to pray for mercy.
Why we all need to pray for the mercy of God?
1. It is the only provision designed by God to remedy the limitations of humanity (details of this in our yesterday meditation).
2. It is a system where the guilty are set free from guilt; Guilt is a bad feeling caused by knowing or thinking that you have done something bad or wrong. There are so many people whose life is driven by guilt! When your life is driven by guilt you are never happy with yourself, you move around with regrets and pain every day of your life. This is our state, before Jesus came to us and set us free from the guilt of sin. It is the status of as many that walks contrary to the word of God though saved.
Beloved, are you one of the born again child of God who’s life is marred by the guilt arising from past sins? I introduce to you God’s provision from the condemnation of past life of guilt which is mercy! If only you can humble your self a little and cry passionately for the mercy of God, you will certainly be set free from the guilt of past life. Don’t continue to walk in the guilt of your past life, confess your sin and cry out for mercy and then move on!
Examples of men that cry for mercy:
1. Peter: He denied his master but later repented of his action and demand for mercy by weeping and God had mercy on him:
Matthew 26:75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
2. Samson also understood the mystery of mercy and he cried for it. He was anointed from his mother’s womb to be a deliverer of the people of God from the hands of the Philistines. But with all those heavy anointing, Samson blew up the privilege and lost it all to his enemy.
However, he decided to cry for God’s mercy at the tail end of his life. For the Bible said:
Judges 16: 28. And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
Beloved, are you like Samson whom God bless but blew the opportunity. Perhaps, your life was a center of attraction, God gave you people, wealth, and influence, but they are all gone now because of your carelessness. You need mercy to recover your losses!
3. David the king He committed adultery with a woman and later murder the husband of the woman(2Sam.11: 1 – 27). When confronted with the judgement by God’s prophet;
This is David’s response:
Psalm 51: 1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 14. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
Observed, David praying to be deliver from blood guilt because guilt arising from blood shed often torment.
Perhaps, as a young girl you did fifteen abortions and now all the blood that you shed are now speaking against you, it is time to cry for mercy. You said well I don’t need this baby now and you went and abort it as the time you now need baby, the blood shed of the past is now speaking against you. It is time to cry for mercy.
Beloved, the good news is that there is no sin that is too thick for the blood of Jesus to wash away, if we can acknowledge our fault and cry out for mercy, we shall certainly obtain mercy like David.
Beloved, What exactly is the past sin that the devil is using to torment you every day? It is time to face your issues headlong! Tell the Lord I know I did cheated so,so time but I demands for your mercy today. I know I lied, I forge figure but Lord I need your mercy. Oh I committed immorality and deserve to be punished but Lord I need your mercy today. Do a soul searching exercise and quietly place a demands for mercy of God today.
Remember this: Heaven is real and hell is real. Those that reject mercy today will cry out for it tomorrow when the door of mercy is permanently closed. Give your heart to Jesus today.

– Father thank you for your word to me today.
– Father, I plead for your mercy today in the name of Jesus.
Prophetic Declaration;
– I declare restoration of your losses in the name of Jesus.
– You are loosed from every life of guilt that tied you down to your past life in the name of Jesus.
