The Kwara State Government has pledged its readiness to turn around the various sporting facilities at the State Stadium complex for optimum performance of its athletes.
The Commissioner for Sports, Alhaji Bolakale Ayo, said this on Friday in Ilorin during a tour of the facilities at the stadium.
He said the Indoor Sports Hall would be renovated to meet the present need, adding that the project, among others, had been captured in next year’s budget.
The Commissioner also announced that government would continue to accord sports top priority in view of its importance in positively engaging the youth.
He assured the staff of the Sports Council that government would continue to facilitate their training and re-training to achieve maximum result.
The State Director of Sports, Mr Tunde Kazeem, told the Commissioner that athletes from the state were being recruited by other states because their welfare was not being properly taken care of.
